PyC Coating and PyC Infiltration

Gas-tight pyrocarbon coating (PyC Pyrolytic Carbon)

PyC coating and PyC infiltration

For coatings, we work according to the principle of chemical vapor deposition (CVD). Thin layers are deposited on a substrate by thermal decomposition of gases. The layer thicknesses range from a few nanometers to several hundred micrometers. The slow growth of these layers creates highly ordered structures that are responsible for the particularly good properties. CVD-PyC coating makes it possible to refine components made of graphite or CFRC in such a way that, for example, their service life is increased under aggressive operating conditions. In addition to coating, we also offer infiltration (CVI Chemical Vapor Infiltration) with pyrocarbon.

What distinguishes our PyC coating and PyC infiltration?

Our customers benefit from our decades of experience in coatings applied via the CVD (chemical vapor deposition) process. Coated components become significantly more stable against oxidative and chemical attack. In addition, the sealing of the surface prevents particle release and makes it possible to selectively adjust the electrical resistance. A combination with high temperature cleaning is also possible.

Where are our PyC coating and PyC infiltration used?

Pyrolytic carbon increases electrical and thermal conductivity as well as chemical resistance and is used, for example, in the field of analytical technology for atomic absorption spectroscopy (AA) tubes. In addition, the PyC coating helps to extend the service life of continuous casting molds in the continuous casting of lead-free alloys. Fixtures for oil quenching, stabilization of C-fibers or as contract coating are further applications.
