A total of six representatives from the Wujiang district (city of Suzhou) visited the Heuchelheim site on November 6. In addition to Sun Jianjiang, head of the district in eastern China with a population of over 1.2 million, the guests included five representatives from the local economic and technology development zone.

Factory tour and exchange

During a factory tour, the delegation gained an insight into the world of Schunk and the product portfolio of the Business Units Industry, Microelectronics, and Transit Systems. The guests were also able to get an impression of the laboratory, the modern production facilities at the Heuchelheim site, and the new SLS104 pantograph. The tour was followed by a dinner together in the Schunk canteen.

Promoting economic cooperation

"China is one of the most important markets for Schunk. This makes personal exchanges with our Chinese partners even more important. I am delighted that we were able to convince our guests of our technological leadership during the tour and product presentation. The visit by the delegation from Suzhou provided valuable impulses for our cooperation and strengthened mutual understanding – a crucial basis for sustainable growth." (Dr. Ulrich von Hülsen, COO)

Suzhou – one of Schunk's largest production sites

The visit by the Chinese delegation is no coincidence: Schunk Xycarb Technology's new production facility in Wujiang (Suzhou) was officially opened in May of this year. With the largest investment in Schunk's history to date, capacities in the field of silicon carbide (SiC) coating for the Chinese optoelectronics and semiconductor market will be significantly increased.

Schunk has been represented in Suzhou since 1995 with one of its largest production sites worldwide. The site primarily manufactures carbon brushes and current collectors.
