Heuchelheim, 24 Oct 2026 – A deflagration followed by a fire occurred at a furnace system on the premises of the Schunk Group's Heuchelheim site on the afternoon of 24 October 2026.
No one was injured in the incident. The fire was extinguished promptly.
Schunk's plant fire brigade, the Heuchelheim Fire Department, and additional emergency response teams were deployed. The Schunk Group crisis management team supported the emergency services on site.
As a precaution, measurements carried out by the district’s designated monitoring unit on the company premises and in the surrounding area detected no critical readings. At no time was there any risk to local residents or the environment.
The cause of the incident is currently under investigation.
