Schunk supports environmental education in the Lahnaue
August 28, 2026 – With a donation of €10,000, the Schunk Group supported the establishment of the Umweltstation Lahnaue (Environmental Education Center Lahn floodplain) operated by NABU Heuchelheim-Kinzenbach e.V. in 2023. The project has now been completed, creating a new venue for environmental education, nature conservation, and knowledge transfer in the region. The installation of a sponsorship sign now makes Schunk’s support visible on site as well.
The Schunk Group regularly supports projects in the region, including initiatives dedicated to environmental and nature conservation. In 2023, the company donated €10,000 to NABU Heuchelheim-Kinzenbach for the development of the environmental education center. In the future, the facility will serve as an information center and extracurricular learning venue, providing knowledge on nature and environmental topics while raising awareness among visitors about protecting the local environment.
“The environmental education center offers hands-on learning about biodiversity, climate protection, and sustainable action. Programs like these help strengthen awareness of environmental and nature conservation, especially among young people. That is why we are pleased to support this project,” explains Jörg Kühn, who is responsible for sustainability worldwide at Schunk.
Sponsorship sign highlights support
To mark the successful completion of the project, Jörg Kühn and David Sickel, Technical Site Manager at Schunk’s Heuchelheim location, presented the sponsorship sign to Dr. Peter Ströde, Chairman of NABU Heuchelheim-Kinzenbach. Together with Gernot Buseck, First Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Heuchelheim, he officially received the sign. Afterwards, apprentices from the Schunk Group installed the sign at the environmental education center.
“As a company headquartered in Heuchelheim, it is important for us to contribute to our local community. The environmental education center creates added value for schools, associations, and the wider public. We are delighted to have been able to contribute to the realization of this project,” emphasizes Sickel.

Support for the Lahnaue Environmental Education Center is part of the Schunk Group’s broader sustainability commitment. Among other goals, the company aims to reduce the direct emissions of its sites by 50 percent by 2030 compared with 2018 levels.
