Ceramic Posts made by Schunk Technical Ceramics


Vertical Posts are integrated parts of mass optimized kiln car superstructures (i.e. Tunnel- and Shuttle Kilns in sanitary industry) and provide an essential contribution as far as the efficient use of the entire system is concerned. The preferred grade for a max. operation temperature of 1.380°C is RBSiC (silicon-infiltrated, reaction-bonded silicon carbide) due to its outstanding properties. Our extruded RBSiC grade CarSIK-Z exhibits an up to approx. 40% increased bending strengths compared to commercially available competitor materials. Due to the superior combination of high bulk density whilst having low content of free Si our vertical Posts achieve an outstanding Bending Strengths as well as Creep-Resistance which warrants a high degree of safety in operation. Depending on the tailor-made design we can offer various geometries with multiple machined windows and integrated supports for defined line-loading scenarios. For complex structures, our 3D-printed IntrinSiC is available as well. With this innovative manufacturing technology, it is feasible for the first time achieving a high degree of design complexity for the grade RBSiC which could not be achieved using conventional production technologies.
