Ceramic bore grids for kilns by Schunk Technical Ceramics

Bore Grids

These supporting constructional elements in shape of perforated batts are used for the individual construction of light-weight, mass-optimized kiln car superstructures, which are used in particular for the firing of sanitaryware. The perforated structure leads to a significantly reduced thermal mass and therefore energy saving. Apart from that, the convective heat-flow in combination with a more homogeneous temperature distribution results – according to various customers – in an increased yield and consequentially a reduced loss rate as far as particular defects characteristics of the sanitaryware (i.e. firing cracks) are concerned.

You benefit from these advantages:

  • Available grade: NSiC (CarSIK-NG)
  • Very good Bending Strengths and Creep Resistance
  • Very good Oxidation- and Corrosion Resistance
  • Very good Thermal Sock Resistance
  • Low Thermal Mass (positive impact on energy consumption)
  • Perforated plate structure might have a positive impact on yield of fired ware
