Ice Scraper Carbon Strip

Our ice scraper carbon strip replaces the conventional carbon contact strip on the pantograph of trains during the winter months. Depending on customer requirements, it is equipped with a copper or brass scraper bar that removes ice from the overhead line. This ensures uninterrupted power transmission between the overhead line and the pantograph. At the same time, the overhead line and conventional contact strips are protected from damage caused by the rough ice, which reduces repair and maintenance costs. The ice scraper contact strip can be mounted on a reusable aluminum carrier, which can also be fitted with a heating element.

You benefit from these advantages:

  • No time-consuming de-icing of the overhead line with glycerine
  • Reduction in the use of labor, machinery and materials
  • Avoidance of costly downtimes and breakdowns
  • High operational safety and reliability of operation even in winter
  • Staff saved can be deployed elsewhere

Kontaktanfrage

In the winter season of 2022/23, Dessauer Verkehrs GmbH tested our ice scraper carbon strip in real-life operation. Previously, extra trips with the catenary maintenance vehicle and expensive glycerine lubrication were the order of the day to ensure safe rail operations in frosty conditions. With the ice scraper contact strip, it was possible to increase operational safety and reduce costs:

"With the ice scraper carbon strip from Schunk, we were able to save 2 weeks of machine use and a total of 120 working hours per month. We are thrilled!"

(Holger Steuer, Maintenance Dessauer Verkehrs GmbH)
