Impressive electrical and mechanical properties and great versatility

High-purity aluminum oxide (≥ 99.7 % Al2O3, type C799; at Schunk AluSIK-99) is characterized by its very good electrical insulation as well as thermal, chemical-corrosive and abrasive resistance. High dimensional stability, mechanical strength and wear resistance contribute to a long service life in use.
What distinguishes AluSIK-99?
In addition to its high surface quality, aluminum oxide ceramics from Schunk are characterized by a very homogeneous microstructure and low impurities. Even at the highest electrical voltages, AluSIK-99 acts as a perfect insulator and remains breakdown-resistant. In particular, long straight profiles up to 3 m are a strength of Schunk. The very good resistance to molten iron also allows applications in direct contact with it.
Where is AluSIK-99 used?
AluSIK-99 has special applications in surface technology (electrodes and profiles for corona and plasma treatment systems), metallurgy (gas lances, purge pipes, crucibles, annealing dishes), furnace construction and thermal process technology, chemical apparatus and mechanical engineering, and electrical and power engineering.

- Flexural strength: 300 MPa
- Modulus of elasticity: 320 GPa
- Max. Application temperature: 1700 °C
- High corrosion and wear resistance
