Schunk Sinter Metals is more than a manufacturing service provider. We are a development partner – from the first technical inquiry to qualified series delivery. Our decades of experience in powder metallurgy, our own tool making, and our accredited testing laboratory allow us to actively help shape new projects right from the start. For new customers and new projects, that means: one point of contact who gets involved not at the drawing stage, but already at the first idea.

Three areas of expertise – one partner

Application engineering consulting

Every project starts with a requirement – not a drawing. Schunk Sinter Metals advises customers already in the early project phase: Which material is the right one? Which manufacturing process – axial pressing, MIM, or additive manufacturing – fits the geometry, volume, and budget? How does the component need to be designed to be manufactured in a sinter-friendly way, without unnecessary post-processing? This early involvement saves time, money, and iteration loops – and is at the core of our development partnership.

Prototyping

Before a component goes into series production, it has to prove that it works. Schunk Sinter Metals produces prototypes and first samples directly in series-grade materials and processes – not in substitute methods that only approximate the series component. That means: what works in the prototype also works in series production. Thanks to additive manufacturing, initial geometry prototypes can be delivered especially quickly – for early coordination discussions, even before a series part is commissioned.

Testing

A component is only released once its properties have been proven. Schunk Sinter Metals tests in its own accredited "Friedrich Eisenkolb" testing laboratory – mechanical properties, material characterization, density, porosity, fatigue strength, and corrosion resistance. For customers who need qualification evidence for their own approval processes, we provide accredited test results with complete documentation.
