With Support to Success: The Ludwig Schunk Foundation Promotes Talent
Discovering young talents, fostering them, and actively opening doors to professional life – this is the goal of the Ludwig Schunk Foundation. Through programs like the Deutschlandstipendium and the Ludwig Schunk Awards, it guides students on their journey from university to a successful career entry.
Support with Vision
At the heart of talent promotion is the Deutschlandstipendium. It is aimed at high-performing and dedicated students who not only have good grades but also demonstrate social commitment. In 2025, the Ludwig Schunk Foundation will support a total of eleven scholarship holders from three renowned universities: the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM), the Justus Liebig University in Gießen, and the Technical University of Darmstadt.
The students receive a monthly payment of 150 euros from the Ludwig Schunk Foundation – doubled by the federal government. But the program offers more than just financial support: personal encounters and networking events with Schunk provide insights into practice and make the world of a technology group tangible.
“We are pleased to have the opportunity to welcome the scholarship holders to our company for a day and to present ourselves as an attractive employer,”

Success Stories: From Scholarship to Career at Schunk
The impact of this support is reflected in the experiences of students like Josephine Böckelmann and Phillip Opitz .
Josephine, a mechanical engineering student at TU Darmstadt, joined Schunk through a scholarship. During her internship and working student position at Sinter Metals, she especially appreciates the good balance between independent work and support from the team.
Phillip Opitz also started with the Deutschlandstipendium – and found his direct path to Schunk. After a compulsory internship and his bachelor’s thesis, he is now a working student in Corporate Strategy and Business Excellence while pursuing his master’s degree. “The Deutschlandstipendium was not only a financial aid for me, but also the door opener to an exciting company with great development opportunities,” he says.

Ludwig Schunk Award: Recognition for Outstanding Achievements
In addition to ongoing support, the Ludwig Schunk Foundation also provides targeted impulses to recognize excellent academic achievements: the Ludwig Schunk Award is presented annually to the best graduates of the THM. In 2025, six students were honored who not only excelled academically but also demonstrated social commitment – whether in youth work, clubs, or international projects.
This award is more than just a prize of 1,000 euros per person: it strengthens the professional profile of the awardees and promotes exchange between universities and industry.
The Ludwig Schunk Foundation shows how targeted talent support builds bridges – between studies and practice, between universities and companies. With financial backing, networking opportunities, and a lived partnership, it makes career entry easier for committed talents and at the same time paves the way to a career at Schunk.
