Contact pressure gauge KM11

Contact pressure gauge KM11

The contact pressure of the pantograph in the entire area of the working height is an important parameter, which affects both the life of wearing parts, e.g. carbon collector strips and the life of the overhead wire. For this reason Schunk Bahn- und Industrietechnik has developed the mobile Contact Pressure Gauge K11, with which the static contact pressure from pantographs, including those which remain mounted on the vehicle, can be measured and registered. The Gauge can be universally employed and can be used both for single and diamond shape pantographs, both in light rail and heavy rail long applications. Due to the unusually simple measuring method, the gauge should be part of the standard equipment for all railway companies.

Brief Description
The gauge is fastened to the base frame of the pantograph and the traction rope is hung in the apex tube of the pan head. The drive force from the electric motor ensures an identical upward or downward movement of the pantograph (0.1 meters/second) and simultaneously drives the registration drum, upon which the pulling force is written on a diagram strip.
