Carbon Strips
A complete carbon strip consists of the carbon strip, which is inseparably joined to the carrier material by our patented method. The carrier performs the task of dissipating the current as well as the mechanical stabilization carbon profile against concussion and sagging. Tried and tested carrier materials are employed for protection against atmospheric influences.
Schunk Bahn- und Industrietechnik has been specialized in the production of carbon wearing strips for many years and has so optimized this technology, that the carbon strips can be employed in all current systems. SBT carbon strips can be used in both direct current and alternating current networks. The adaptation to the drive current being transmitted is either achieved by the material of the carbon strips or by the number or width of the pantograph wearing strips.
The advantages of SBI-S pantograph wearing strips are a low coefficient of friction, less wear on the overhead wire, low weight, little pollution, good electrical and heat conductivity and good arcing resistance.
